Bhumi Pednekkar styled her Ekaya Banaras Kanchipuram silk sari with a brocade corset
Pednekkar’s handwoven metallic Kanchipuram sari is crafted in a lightweight silk-tissue blend that lends the textile a liquid-like sheen. Long celebrated for their exceptional artistry, Kanchipuram silk remains one of the most coveted heirlooms in Indian occasion wear wardrobes. Originating in Tamil Nadu, this storied weave is prized for its durability, intricate craftsmanship and ability to retain relevance across generations. Instead of pairing the silver sari with a matching blouse, she opted for a pale gold brocade corset that featured a sweetheart neckline and visible boning, adding structure and definition.
The pallu’s styling played a pivotal role in modernising her ensemble. Giving the classic drape a rain check, the actor swept the pallu over both shoulders, resembling a dramatic cape. She did not hold back on the accessories either. The hero of her jewellery look was a choker from Amaris, featuring two strings of uncut diamonds with a ruby and pearl pendant. Polki-encrusted ear cuffs and hair brooches from Khurana Jewellery House and a ring stack from Amrapali Jewels, Shobha Shringar Jewellers and Kalamandir Jewellers completed the story. Her beauty look followed suit, with hair pulled into a sleek updo and evening glamour makeup featuring copper-toned eyeshadow, a rich red lip and luminous highlighter.
From her sari to styling, Pednekkar’s look is a masterclass in contemporary sari dressing. It is testimony that a timeless weave such as a Kanchipuram can be reinterpreted and restyled for everything, from cocktail nights to wedding celebrations.
