Bihar Assembly Election results 2025: Maithili Thakur, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate, on Friday called her massive lead in the Alinagar constituency “a dream” as the counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 was underway. At 4.50 pm, Maithili Thakur was leading with 8,601 votes against her closest rival Binod Mishra of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, showed the Election Commission of India website.
If Thakur, who turned 25 in July, wins, the folk singer will become the youngest MLA to enter the Bihar assembly.
“This is like a dream. People have a lot of expectations of me… This will be my first term as an MLA, and I will do my best for my constituency. I will serve my people as their daughter. I can only see Alinagar right now and how I can work them,” Thakur told the media.

The trends suggest that the renewed JD(U)-BJP partnership, backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide popularity, is steering the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) toward a sweeping mandate of over 243 seat assembly.
The Alinagar seat was won by the Vikassheel Insaan Party’s Mishri Lal Yadav in 2020 by a narrow margin against the RJD’s Binod Mishra. Yadav, who moved to the BJP later, was disqualified in May this year after a court conviction in an assault case. In October, Yadav resigned from the BJP, calling it “anti-Dalit”.
