Former doubles world No. 5 David Marrero and Tunisia’s current Davis Cup captain Malek Jaziri have been suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Association (ITIA) after accepting sanctions for violating Tennis Anti-Corruption Program wild card rules.

Marrero owned up to four instances between 2022-23 of paying and offering to pay for wild cards for himself and/or a doubles partner. Jaziri admitted to conspiring with the Spaniard in one of those offenses.

As outlined by ITIA, both are “prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any tennis event authorized or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association” during their periods of ineligibility.

The 2013 Nitto ATP Finals doubles champion alongside compatriot Fernando Verdasco, Marrero began a 31-month suspension on October 21 that ends May 20, 2028. The 45-year-old was also fined $15,000 ($10,000 is suspended).

For his actions, the 41-year-old Jaziri—a former world No. 42 with match wins at all four majors—received a $5,000 fine ($2,500 suspended). His nine-month ban started October 28 and finishes July 27, 2026.
