How the WTC table looks after Pakistan’s defeat WTC 2025-2027 StandingsWTC Points System

ICC WTC 2025-2027 Updated Standings: Pakistan suffered a stunning eight-wicket defeat to South Africa, failing to clinch the series victory at home during the second game in Rawalpindi on Thursday. With the defeat, Pakistan slipped from the second spot to fifth alongside the Proteas who marked a resounding comeback from the first Test defeat.

South Africa made a stunning comeback on day three of the second Test when a superb display from No. 11 Kagiso Rabada and spinner Senuran Muthusamy’s 89 not out powered Proteas into the lead. Rabada recorded the highest-ever Test score by a South African No. 11, with his 71 ensuring that Pakistan was looking at a 71-run deficit. A top-order collapse meant that Pakistan had trudged into stumps with half the side back in the hut and the procession of wickets followed on Thursday morning. Chasing a 68-run target, South Africa romped home in only 12.3 overs.

After a valiant 2-2 series draw against England away from home, Shubman Gill started his first home Test series as a captain with a 2-0 clean sweep of West Indies, as India beat the Roston Chase side comfortably by seven wickets in the New Delhi Test on Tuesday. Chasing 121, opener KL Rahul guided the home side with a quality half-century after Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc with the ball in the first innings. Ravindra Jadeja was awarded the Player of the Series award for his brilliant all-round show.

How the WTC table looks after Pakistan’s defeat

Pakistan slipped to 5th in the standings after losing to South Africa in the 2nd Test on Thursday. Meanwhile, 4th-placed India’s points percentage (PCT) pushed them up to third spot behind Sri Lanka. Now, after gaining 24 points from 2 Tests against West Indies, India have been pushed closer to third-placed Sri Lanka’s 66.67. The PCT is the percentage of points won out of the number of points that a team has contested for.

Meanwhile, Australia (100.00 PCT) remain top of the table, having won all three Tests they have played thus far. Sri Lanka are third after winning the two-match Test series against Bangladesh 1-0.

India have now won four of the seven Tests they have played in this cycle. England (43.33) rank in the lower half with two wins, two draws and a loss in five Tests while Bangladesh (16.67) are with one draw and one loss in two Tests. The West Indies (0) have lost all five Tests they have played thus far in this cycle. New Zealand are yet to start their new WTC cycles.
