Gordon Murray Special Vehicles in partnership with RM Sotheby’s will auction its final available S1 LM supercar for sale, Chassis #1, at amfAR’s event during the 2025 Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

• The auction will take place during the amfAR event at Wynn Las Vegas on November 21, where Professor Gordon Murray will be presented with the amfAR Award of Innovation.
• For the winning bidder, it will be like stepping back into the 1990s to sit beside Professor Gordon Murray to create their dream specification of the modern incarnation of the most iconic supercar ever made.
• Created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the McLaren F1 GTR’s legendary 1995 Le Mans victory, the S1 LM is the first and most significant supercar from Gordon Murray’s Special Vehicles Division, designed by the original architect and creator of the McLaren F1 LM.

Building on Gordon Murray’s belief that the engine is the heart of the car and represents at least half of the experience, the S1 LM places its masterpiece at the very center. The removal of the rear fan and oil cooling pack frees space to house a unique and exclusive 4.3-liter V-12, producing over 700 PS, paired with a bespoke Inconel exhaust system, wrapped in 18-karat gold-foiled heat shielding. Engine development focused on larger displacement, lighter internals, and a higher compression ratio, maximizing power, torque, and responsiveness. Engineered to rev to 12,100, the V-12 delivers a distinctive harmony through its four centrally mounted exhausts, inspired by the 1995 Le Mans winning legend.

About Professor Gordon Murray

Gordon spent 20 years as Technical Director to two Formula One teams from 1969-1990 working alongside legendary drivers Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet amongst other greats. At Brabham he was instrumental in two world championship wins (1981 and 1983) before three consecutive championship wins with McLaren Racing (1988, 1989, and 1990). In 1990 – after 50 Grand Prix wins – Gordon moved away from Formula One to establish a new company for the group, McLaren Cars Limited. His first project there, the F1 road car, is still regarded as one of the world’s best-engineered cars. A racing version won two world sports car championships and the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1995.
