Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took aim at United States President Donald Trump on Monday night, saying that India’s economy is the fastest growing in the world and the country cannot be stopped by “some people causing difficulties”.
Referring to Trump’s dead economy jibe, Naidu, an NDA ally at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh, said that the future will decide which economy declined and which stood strong. Naidu was speaking at the Har Ghar Tiranga programme in Vijayawada.
“We have a good economy. We are the fastest-growing economy, and no one can compete with us right now. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rule, India’s economy has made rapid strides from 11th to 4th place in the world. Our economy is in good hands. The world needs India’s services, and we are in a good position to deliver. By 2047, ours will be the strongest country and economy in the world. The future will decide which economies are dead. We are already emerging as a global leader,” he said.
“India’s growth cannot be stopped or shaken by some people causing difficulties for us. Taxes, tariffs and duties are being imposed, thinking it will halt India’s growth story. These hurdles, like trade barriers, are temporary; they cannot stop us. We will still emerge as a powerful country,” he said.
As reported by The Indian Express, Andhra Pradesh’s shrimp farmers are bracing for the impact of US tariffs that will touch 59.72% after Trump announced 25% additional tariffs over and above the 25% announced earlier, as well as the 5.76% countervailing duty and 3.96% anti-dumping duty.
India’s seafood exports in 2024-25 reached $7.38 billion, amounting to 1.78 million metric tonnes. Shrimp formed the most significant component, accounting for 92% of India’s seafood exports, and the US market alone accounted for over 40% of India’s total shrimp exports.
Praising Modi for his foreign policy, especially in countering terrorism and conducting Operation Sindoor, Naidu said that India is maintaining good relations with every nation. Stating that the Pahalgam terror attack was unfortunate, Naidu said that India responded appropriately. He said India doesn’t interfere in the affairs of other countries, but will not tolerate if anyone meddles with us. “We have a strong leader in PM Modi and the country will now bow to anyone,” he said.
