Amid protests by Opposition parties inside and outside Parliament against the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral roll in poll-bound Bihar, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi Wednesday alleged that elections are being “stolen” and said that he was going to show it in “black and white” with an example of a Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka, which he claimed the party has studied.
In Delhi, Gandhi told the reporters that: “They cheated in Maharashtra. We asked questions and asked for the voters list. They didn’t show it. We asked for videography, and they changed the law for videography. One crore voters were added in Maharashtra and they stole the election.”
Alleging discrepancies in voters list of a constituency in Karnataka during the 2024 LS polls, Gandhi said: “We have… caught huge theft in Karnataka. I will show you in black and white, and I will show the EC… They have understood what their game is… We chose one constituency and did a deep dive.”
“The problem is they give voters lists on paper, which can’t be analysed. For one constituency, we took the voters list, and converted it into digital format. It took us six months, but we have figured out their system — how they do it, who votes, where the votes are cast, and how new voters are created… They are doing it under a new system in Bihar — they will delete voters. Elections are being stolen in India and that is the reality.”
Congress sources said Gandhi was referring to Bangalore North constituency.
Sharing a video of his remarks on X, Gandhi said, “We showed everyone how match-fixing happened in Maharashtra. We investigated one Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka — large-scale vote theft was found, we will soon bring it before the public.” Gandhi said that in Bihar, votes of SC, ST and OBC communities and minorities are being stolen in the name of the electoral roll revision.
