
Parliament Monsoon Session 2025 LIVE Updates: The protests over the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar are likely to continue in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today, with Opposition MPs demanding that the Election Commission of India halt the exercise. The first four days of the Monsoon session were rocked by adjournment as Opposition members continued to chant slogans and carry placards inside on the floor, disrupting House proceedings. The Lok Sabha functioned for less than 12 minutes on Thursday before it was adjourned for the day at 2 pm. On Wednesday, Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned in less than a minute at 2 pm amid ruckus in the House.
Extension President’s rule in Manipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to move a proposal in the Rajya Sabha today to extend President’s Rule in Manipur for another six months. President’s rule had been imposed in Manipur in February following months of clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh stepped down from his position amid the conflict, primarily due to political pressure from other BJP MLAs from the Meitei community who were dissenting against his leadership.

MPs push for Yashwant Varma’s impeachment: 145 Lok Sabha members and 63 Opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha submitted a memorandum to remove Justice Yashwant Varma under Articles 124, 217, and 218 of the Constitution. Lok Sabha was adjourned till 4 pm, minutes after resuming at 2 pm as the Opposition continued to shout slogans. However, proceedings resume in Rajya Sabha. Monsoon session will comprise a total of 21 sittings, spread over 32 days, and will conclude on August 21. In between, both the Houses will be adjourned on August 12, 2025, and will reassemble on Monday, August 18, to facilitate Independence Day celebrations.
