ESPN reports that Shriver’s car, a Dodge Durango Hellcat, contained “five US Open trophies, five French Open plates and one Australian Open trophy” when it was stolen, representing 11 of the 21 major trophies the American won in women’s doubles and mixed doubles in the 80s and 90s.
“I was just starting to take things out to pack them in the car, and I was like, ‘Where’s the car?'” she told the network.
“…It’s really sad on so many levels that when people are at their lowest and in their most difficult times, people are doing things like this.”
Shriver, who is a tennis analyst for ESPN and Tennis Channel as well as the coach of WTA No. 19 Donna Vekic, was set to travel to the Australian Open earlier this month but canceled the trip to help manage her family’s needs.
