Harvard came out stronger after the intermission, outshooting Boston College 10-8 in the second period. BC still leads in 17-16 in shots. Despite getting some better chances, the Harvard offense could not get past BC goalie Grace Campbell.

Boston College started hot, scoring three goals in a span of eight minutes. It was all Eagles early, with BC recording nine shots in the first 20 minutes.

Harvard coach Laura Bellamy called a timeout after the third BC goal to try to slow the game down and to switch goaltenders. Harvard had six shots in the period, with most coming after the timeout.

The Eagles’ offense is humming early as Katie Pyne makes a nifty move to beat Ainsley Tuffy. All three BC goals so far have come from New England natives.

Matthews Arena was packed for the Women’s Beanpot semifinal between No. 15 Northeastern and No. 12 Boston College. In what could be the arena’s last Beanpot game, 3,298 fans filled the historic arena.

The game set a record for the largest crowd at a campus site in Beanpot history and the largest crowd at a NU women’s hockey game ever. The record-setting night could be a farewell to the historic arena — which opened in 1910 — with talks about the university replacing Matthews with a new facility soon.

But for now, this game serves both as a reminder of the Beanpot’s long history and as proof of the growth of women’s hockey at the collegiate level and beyond.

Despite a late third period push from the Eagles, No. 15 Northeastern held on to beat No. 12 Boston College 4-2 and advance to the Women’s Beanpot final.

Northeastern came out HOT. Three quick goals in the first period gave the Huskies an early lead, and they never looked back.

Boston College netted one late in the first period, but they just couldn’t solve Lisa Jönsson for the rest of the game. Lily Shannon added a shorthaned tally late in the second period to make it 4-1 Huskies.

A late Gaby Roy tally with the extra attacker made it 4-2, but it was too little, too late for the Eagles.

Northeastern moves on to face Boston University in the 2025 Women’s Beanpot final Jan. 21 at TD Garden.

The scoring cooled off a bit in the second period, but a shorthanded tally from Lily Shannon extended the Huskies’ lead to three.

BC came out much faster in the second, putting up 12 shots, but Lisa Jönsson made some impressive saves to keep the Huskies in front.

She really is just a freshman.

It was all Northeastern for most of the first period as the Huskies netted three goals on 12 shots. But the Eagles showed some life at the end of the frame with a goal on their seventh shot of the game.
