The No. 7 Bulldogs came into Foley Field with a tall task Sunday — win two straight against No. 1 Arkansas. The Razorbacks hadn’t lost back-to-back games all season and had only lost three games overall before making the trip to Athens for the weekend.
The Bulldogs were up for the challenge, and the nation’s hottest offense erupted with two home runs from Kolby Branch and Slate Alford. Georgia held onto the lead for most of the game, but Arkansas clawed its way back, and the Razorbacks eventually tied it in the ninth with their own pair of homers — a solo shot from Ryder Helfrick and a 440-foot jack from Wehiwa Aloy.

Fittingly, it would take extras for these two SEC titans to settle this series.
After a scoreless 10th inning, Arkansas got things going again in the 11th when Gabe Fraser scored on a fielder’s choice. But the Bulldogs answered back with a Tre Phelps double, bringing Dan Jackson home to tie it at six.
On to the 12th inning…
Brian Zeldin came in for relief for Georgia, and he did his job well, retiring all three Arkansas batters on just five pitches. Cole Gibler came to the mound for Arkansas, facing the 7-9 hitters in Georgia’s order. Devin Obee and Branch went down swinging, and the Razorbacks just needed one more out to send it to the 13th.
Then Henry Hunter came up to the plate. He waited for his pitch, taking three balls before Gibler threw a strike. But it was the fifth pitch of the at-bat that would end it, as Hunter took it 390 feet to right field to walk it off for Georgia and win the series.

Georgia moves to 32-6 on the season and 10-5 in SEC play, and Arkansas falls to 32-5 overall and 12-3 in SEC games.
