NCAA.com team of the week, NC State, knocked off top-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday and, in doing so, moved within one game of the Irish in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings entering the final week of the regular season.

The trio of Zoe Brooks, Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers scored or assisted on 93 of NC State’s points in the 104-95 double overtime win as NC State had all five starters in double digits for the fourth time this season. Brooks, a sophomore guard, led the way with a career-high 33 points with 10 rebounds for her second double-double this season. Rivers was one assist shy from a triple-double behind 14 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high nine assists with three blocks and two steals. James logged her 12th 20-point game this season and Tilda Trygger matched a career-high with 19 points.

In a game that featured 21 lead changes and 21 ties and marked the first time NC State has surpassed 100 points since 2021. The Wolfpack went on a 10-0 run in double overtime, while holding the Irish scoreless in double overtime until 27 seconds left in the period. NC State shot 46 percent from the field and had the slight advantage in the rebounding battle, 51-49. The Wolfpack connected on 24-of-26 from the free throw line.
NC State improved to 22-5 overall and 14-2 in ACC play, with the win being the first over an Associated Press No. 1 team since Feb. 21, 2021, when NC State beat Louisville on the road, 74-60. For the Irish, 24-3 and 15-1, it was the first loss since Nov. 30 after going into the game on a 19-game winning streak. The win marked NC State’s fifth win over a No. 1 opponent in school history,
The Wolfpack opened the week with an 83-68 win at Georgia Tech on Feb. 20. NC State had four players in double digits, highlighted by Rivers, who flirted with a triple-double before finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and matched a career-high with eight assists.
NC State will next host Wake Forest on Feb. 27, before traveling to SMU on March 2 for the final game of the regular season.
