Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah slammed a fan account on Wednesday for disrespecting his former teammates Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez who have gotten transfers away from the club to Bayern Munich and Al Hilal respectively.
The fan account named Anfield Edition posted a photo of Diaz and Nunez along with new Liverpool signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, bought from Newcastle and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, and captioned it with “Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history.”
Salah quote tweeted the post and said, “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?”

Diaz and Darwin’s legacy
Diaz and Nunez were both part of Liverpool’s historical 20th English league title win last season. Diaz scored 17 goals in 50 games across all competitions for the Merseyside club last season while Nunez scored 5 times in 8 league matches.
Diaz, who was signed by Liverpool in 2022 scored 41 goals in 148 appurtenances for the club while Nunez, also bought in 2022, chipped in with 40 goals in 143 games for the Reds. Bayern splashed out a reported 75 million euros for Diaz while al Hilal snapped up Nunez for a reported 53 million euros.
Liverpool’s rebuild
With their coffers reviltalized with the outgoings, Liverpool went into business mode in the transfer window, bringing in Wirtz for 116 million pounds from Leverkusen, which was a British record before breaking it once again in deadline day when they splashed 125 million pounds for Isak from Newcastle, making him the fourth most expensive player in football history.
Liverpool, whose outlay of $570 million was the biggest ever by one club in single window, also lead the unprecedented spending in the Premier League.
Liverpool could afford such outrageous spending because the club bought only one player last summer — Federico Chiesa for 10 million pounds ($13.2 million) — while making a net profit of more than $50 million as Arne Slot leaned on the squad bequeathed by Jurgen Klopp to win the Premier League in his first season in charge.

This summer, the Reds have received about $250 million from sales, too. While their signings look strong on paper, their ability to recoup money for players is equally as impressive.
