MS Dhoni may be known as ‘Captain Cool’ for good reason but there have been moments when the former India captain and Chennai Super Kings icon’s famous calmness was broken. Pacer Mohit Sharma has recalled one such instance in which he said Dhoni lost his cool and hurled abuses on him. Sharma was talking of an incident, which happened during Chennai Super Kings’s Group A match against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Champions League Twenty 20 played in Hyderabad in 2014.

“I had a lot of moments. Mahi bhai has a cool and calm aura. You don’t expect him to lose his cool,” Mohit told CricTracker. “Being a young guy, you get excited when he loses his cool at you. There was a moment in the CLT20 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Mahi bhai called Ishwar Pandey to bowl, but I thought he called me. I started my run-up, but Mahi bhai said he didn’t call me to bowl, and he tried calling Ishwar. The umpire said I have to continue bowling as I had started my run-up. He lost his cool at me and gave me a few choice words. I took Yusuf (Pathan) bhai’s wicket on the first ball. During the celebration, Mahi bhai was still hurling abuses (laughs).”

Sharma also recalled that he got to learn a lot about the game from playing under Dhoni.

The 36-year-old, who has played in 26 ODIs picking up 31 wickets and eight T20Is picking up six wickets for India, has a total of 134 wickets in 120 matches in IPL in his career. Sharma had earlier talked about how he thinks about the next match and not the whole year at present in terms of his cricketing career.

“I am not looking at the next two years. I am not a person who thinks long-term because I have learned that when you plan things, sometimes they don’t pan out the way you desired. A year or two is very long. I’m just thinking [ahead to] two days, four days, one week, next match. That’s it. You can prepare in your personal life for the long term, but in your professional life, it is those two-three days. I also feel things can get complicated if you think too much. I don’t like to be in such a scenario at all. What the future brings, I can wait and see,” Sharma had told ESPNCricinfo earlier this year.
