A bit further up the rankings, two players break into the Top 15 for the first time this week—one on the men’s side and one on the women’s side—after posting runner-up finishes at 500-level events.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who reached his fourth final of the year in Basel before falling to Fonseca, rises from No. 18 to No. 15 for his Top 15 debut. And Linda Noskova, who reached the final in Tokyo before falling to Belinda Bencic, rises from No. 17 to No. 13 for her Top 15 debut.
Bencic, meanwhile, rises from No. 13 to No. 11 after capturing her 10th career WTA title in the Japanese capital, her highest ranking since returning to the tour as a mom last year. The Swiss is a former No. 4.
Also, American Ann Li cracks the Top 40, jumping 11 spots from No. 44 to No. 33 after winning the WTA 250-level event in Guangzhou.
