Early Steps and TrainingGame Style and Role Model

At just 19 years old, Italy’s Lorenzo Carboni is steadily carving out his path on the ATP Challenger Tour. Born and raised in Alghero, Sardinia, the world No. 429, which marks a personal career-high ranking, is known for his quick feet, relentless movement, and strong mentality—qualities that make him a tough competitor on any surface.

Early Steps and Training

Carboni’s tennis journey began on the Italian island of Sardinia, but at 13, he made a bold decision: to leave home and train at the prestigious Piatti Tennis Center in Bordighera, located in the Liguria region, near the French border.

“When I was 13, I decided to go to the Piatti Academy for practice,” he recalls. “It’s a good experience, also for life.” That move gave him a professional structure early on, shaping both his game and his mindset.

Game Style and Role Model

“My legs and footwork are probably my strengths, as I am pretty fast,” Carboni explains. “I can reach many balls and put pressure on my opponents.” His speed and defensive skills are key weapons, though like any young player, he continues to refine other areas of his game.

His inspiration comes from Novak Djokovic, a player he deeply admires. “I like his movement and mentality on the court. He is an amazing player and person.”
