A team of two Indian specialists and a nursing assistant from two of India’s topmost burn injury treatment hospitals, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, landed in Dhaka Wednesday to help with the treatment of the victims of the July 21 Bangladesh military plane crash, as per the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The team will be in Bangladesh for approximately a week to help with the treatment of the burn victims following the air crash in Dhaka. The MEA Tuesday announced the dispatch of a team of burn-specialist doctors and nurses to Dhaka to treat those injured in the military jet crash in Bangladesh.
“They will make an assessment of the condition of patients with recommendation for further treatment and specialised care in India as necessary,” the Ministry statement said.

The team includes two burn specialists, Dr Ram Mohan from RML Hospital and Dr Piyush Thayal from Safdarjung Hospital. Nurses Puneet Sharma and Anita Verma from RML Hospital are also part of the team. The medical team, which will assist in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of the victims, has also been asked to carry the necessary medicines.
They have also been asked to assist the Bangladesh government as required in terms of health measures, and debrief the MEA and the Directorate General of Health Services upon their return.
“Additional medical teams may also follow depending on their preliminary assessment and treatment,” the MEA said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the tragic air crash and conveyed India’s support and assistance to the Bangladeshi government.
He said in a post on X: “Deeply shocked and saddened at the loss of lives, many of them young students, in a tragic air crash in Dhaka. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We pray for the swift recovery of those injured. India stands in solidarity with Bangladesh and is ready to extend all possible support and assistance.”

At least 29 people, most of them children, were killed when the Bangladesh Air Force’s F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College in the northern Uttara area of Dhaka, trapping them in fire and debris. Another 170 people were injured. The Bangladesh military said the aircraft had suffered mechanical failure.
