India vs New Zealand ODI Squad Announced: India on Saturday announced the squad to face New Zealand in the upcoming 3-match ODI series. Shubman Gill captains the team while Shreyas Iyer is also named in the squad as vice captain but his availability is subject to fitness, the BCCI said in a statement.
The BCCI also stated that allrounder Hardik Pandya will miss out of the team because he has not been cleared by the BCCI COE to bowl 10 overs in a match. Additionally, with the T20 World Cup coming up in February, his workload is being managed, the sports body said.
Veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also retained their place in the team after their impressive performances in the South Africa series as well as the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy matches. There was, however, no place Mohammad Shami in the team.
“The Senior Men’s Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the upcoming IDFC First Bank three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting 11th January at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara. Hardik Pandya has not been cleared by the BCCI COE to bowl 10 overs in a match and considering the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to follow, his workload is being managed,” the BCCI release stated.
India will face the Kiwis in 3 ODIs, starting on January 11 with the first match in Vadodara, followed by the second in Rajkot and the third and final match in Indore.
