India vs England Live Cricket Score, ENG vs IND 2nd Test Day 1 Updates: England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first against Shubman Gill’s India in the second of a five-match Test series at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Day 1.
Two years on since their stunning defeat at the Birmingham venue, when England gunned down their record 378-run chase, India are looking to fill up the XI with three all-rounders to cover the base for lower-order frailties, and hope that they turn up to assist a pace attack minus Jasprit Bumrah to claim all 20 English wickets. The mindset, defensive at best, wears a worrying look where, within a week, Gill and head coach Gautam Gambhir have shifted from the necessary idea of having a strong bowling attack to claim 20 wickets and win Test matches abroad.

With Bumrah set to take a break for workload management, the onus will be on Mohammed Siraj to helm a wavering seam attack from not tripping over against the Bazballers. With a strike bowler in Kuldeep Yadav set to warm the benches again, India are hoping the punt to play Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja together will at least save India from embarrassing batting collapses on relatively flat English pitches.
