Sachin Tendulkar had high praises for current India skipper Shubman Gill, lauding the 25-year-old for his batting as well as his leadership skills. Gill, currently in his first tour as India skipper, has had a brilliant series with the bat so far, accumulating 505 runs in the first two Tests, including a double century. He also notched up his first win as captain when India defeated England by 336 runs at Edgbaston to tie the series 1-1.
“He’s been good. He’s very calm and composed and I strongly believe that how the rest of the 10 players also react to whatever decision he has taken has been measured decisions, well thought of. His batting is complementing that as well because if a captain is in good form, it makes a huge difference on decision making. You need to be in the right frame of mind to make those important calls. He’s been batting brilliantly,” Tendulkar said in a video released by Star Sports.
“As an opposition, normally, you know they look to find weak areas in your batting. When your technique at this point of time, has been remarkable. Whatever I have seen, it’s been special. I am very happy you know the way we came back in the series in the second Test match after that disappointment in the first Test match,” he added.

On Thursday, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bat against India, who brought back pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, in the third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar series at Lord’s.
Bumrah returned to the Indian playing XI after sitting out the second match at Birmingham, while England fast bowler Jofra Archer will be appearing in his first Test since February 2021.
Archer has come in place of Josh Tongue, while Bumrah has replaced Prasidh Krishna in the Indian line-up.
The five-match series is locked at 1-1 after England and India won in Leeds and Birmingham respectively.
