FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 Chess Final Day LIVE Updates: The final of the FIDE Grand Swiss tournament has begun in Samarkand with 18 Indians in action. All eyes will be on players like Vaishali Rameshbabu and Arjun Erigaisi, who still have a shot at qualifying for the FIDE Candidates by securing at least a top two spot in their respective events.
While Vaishali is taking on former women’s world champion Tan Zhongyi, Arjun will face Vincent Keymer. Tan has already secured qualification to the Candidates through the Women’s World Cup two months back. Vaishali is currently joint leader in the standings. Meanwhile, there are three Indian players — Arjun Erigaisi, Nihal Sarin and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi — who find themselves just half a point behind the five tournament leaders in the open section heading into today’s final round. Arjun has the best chance among Indians to secure a top 2 spot, and consequent entry into the Candidates.
