Belinda Bencic (+800): Bencic was hot as can be to start the 2025 season with an impressive 18-6 record. The 28-year-old also won a title in Abu Dhabi, quickly becoming a factor in the women’s game after a maternity leave. Bencic has also success at this tournament in the past, winning it in 2022 and finishing runner-up in 2023. She likes these conditions and knows what it takes to win.
Now, we just need to see what Bencic has in her legs. For as good as she was to start the year, she got boatraced in a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Madison Keys in the quarterfinals of Indian Wells. Then, after a tough win over Dayana Yastremska at the Miami Open, she got rocked in a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Elina Svitolina. Is she coming crashing back down to earth, or will she regain her form in Charleston?
Daria Kasatkina (16-1): It’s a little surprising to see Kasatkina at 16-1 odds. The now-Australian star won this tournament in 2017 and was a runner-up here last year. Kasatkina also won more matches on clay than anybody outside of Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka in 2023, and she went 8-4 on dirt in 2024. Kasatkina’s crafty baseline game, effortless power and ability to win in a variety of different ways just plays well in these conditions. So, if you’re looking for a longer shot in this tournament, she could be worthy of a small-money play.
