Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE News Updates: Opposition MPs today are likely to continue with their protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Bihar voter list ahead of the assembly election, demanding a discussion regarding the same in both Houses. Since the commencement of the Monsoon session, both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha have been subject to constant adjournments, most days within minutes from the start of the proceedings. Congress further asserted on Wednesday morning that a discussion on EC’s SIR action is ‘non-negotiable’, claiming that Centre is attempting to cut votes for the upcoming election.
Kharge vs RS Chair over CISF presence: The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday witnessed a sharp exchange between LoP Mallikarjun Kharge and RS Chair Harivansh. Kharge alleged that CISF personnel were deployed inside the House to prevent MPs from protesting inside Rajya Sabha. Harivansh however refuted the claim and also expressed concern over Kharge making public his letter to the Chair. He said Kharge’s letter to him falls in “privileged communication” and should not have been shared with the media even before it had reached him.

List of business in Parliament today: On Day 13 of the Monsoon session, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to commence the discussion on the statement on expenditure of Manipur’s budget. The National Sports Governance Bill 2025 and National Anti-Doping Act 2022 will be moved in the Lower House by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. Apart from this, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal will move the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024.
