Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., the eldest son of Cristiano Ronaldo, has been selected for the under-16 Portugal national team for the first time. He is set to play a tournament in Turkey that takes place between October 30 and November 4.
He represents the club Sporting who have had seven of their players called up for the U-16 national squad. They will play the Federations Cup0, for which the coach Filipe Ramos has called up 22 players.
Known in Portugal as “Cristianinho,” he has already made five appearances with the U-15 side, debuting last May at the Vlatko Markovic Tournament, where he starred with two goals in the final against the hosts Croatia. Like his father, he plays the junior circuit for the Saudi club Al Nassr.

In the past, Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken about his son. “We’ll see if he’ll be a great player. He’s not yet. Sometimes he drinks coke, he eats fries and he knows I get mad. I tell him to treadmill and then dive into cold water to recover, and he says: “Dad, but it’s so cold.” It’s normal because he’s young. He has potential. He is fast, he dribbles well, but that’s not enough. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I’m not going to pressure him to be a player. However, I especially want him to be the best, whether he’s a footballer or a doctor.”
Couple of years ago, at the Global Soccer Awards, he had revealed why he gets angry with his son on occasions. “I’m hard with him sometimes because he drinks Coca-Cola and Fanta sometimes and I’m pissed with him. I fight with him when he eats chips and fries and everything, he knows I don’t like it. Even my small kids, when they eat chocolate they always look to me and, you know, we have to be strong.”
