Carlos Alcaraz unleashed his belligerent best to tame world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in their third Grand Slam meeting of the year at the US Open finale in New York on Sunday night. The 22-year-old Spaniard walloped his arch-nemesis Sinner in four sets, winning the entire championship by dropping a solitary set.
The 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 triumph meant that Alcaraz had created new records while also being part of the dominant Sincaraz run since the start of 2024, with the pair sharing the last eight Slam titles between them. Here is a look at all the major records set by Alcaraz’s sixth Grand Slam win at the US Open 2025:
Joint-Fastest Man to win 6 Grand Slams
- In only 18 Grand Slams, Alcaraz has sped to six Grand Slams, winning twice each at the US Open, French Open and Wimbledon. Alcaraz equalled Bjorn Borg in becoming the joint-fastest man to win six Grand Slam singles titles among all men in history.
Second Youngest Man to win 6 Grand Slams
- Aged 22y 125d, Alcaraz’s rapid feat to collect his sixth Grand Slam title also ranks only behind Borg, who racked up as many major championships by the age of 22 years and 19 days. Only Borg had recorded more wins (85) than Alcaraz (84) at his current age at all Grand Slams.
- Alcaraz also became the youngest player to win multiple titles at 3 different Grand Slam surfaces, overtaking Mats Wilander (24y 6d).

Least Service Games lost to win US Open title
- A jaw-dropping stat indeed! Alcaraz dropped only 3 service games in the entire US Open 2025 campaign, the least games lost by a player to win the title in New York (for all recorded data since 1991). Only American legend Pete Sampras has won a Grand Slam with fewer service breaks, clinching the 1997 Wimbledon with only two drops!
- Alcaraz faced only 10 break points in the tournament, the least for any player while winning a Grand Slam since 1991, bettering Sampras (12) at the ’93 US Open.

Youngest since Rafa Nadal….
- At 22y 125d, Alcaraz ranks only behind his legendary compatriot Rafael Nadal in being the youngest men to collect 5 Major titles in a calendar year. Nadal holds the two best seasons, achieving the landmark first in 2005 as a teenager, at 19y 136d and later in 2008.
Beating the World No. 1 in two Slams in a year
- Alcaraz is only the second man since Nadal to beat the reigning World No. 1 in multiple Grand Slams in a calendar year. Nadal achieved the feat when he edged past Roger Federer in the 2008 French Open and Wimbledon.
Ending Jannik Sinner’s hard-court Slam streak
- Displacing Sinner from the pole position on the ATP rankings with the win, Alcaraz also snapped the Italian’s flawless 27-match unbeaten streak in hard-court Grand Slam matches, starting since the 2023 US Open. Sinner’s record stood second only to Roger Federer’s 40 consecutive wins in hard-court Slams between 2005 and 2008.
