Badminton World Championships: Why HS Prannoy won’t find it easy against World No.2 Anders Antonsen

India’s campaign at the 2025 BWF World Championships in Paris has had a mixed start. H.S. Prannoy, a 2023 bronze medalist, began strongly by defeating Finland’s Joakim Oldorff in straight games, setting up a tough second-round match against world number two Anders Antonsen. P.V. Sindhu, a former world champion, also progressed with a straight-games victory despite a shaky start in her opening match. However, it was a disappointing tournament for Lakshya Sen, a 2021 bronze medalist, who was eliminated in the first round by top seed and world number one Shi Yu Qi. Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth, humorously ranked 42nd, has had a largely unremarkable record at the Worlds recently, but did show a return to form by making the finals of the 2025 Malaysia Masters.
