Aryna Sabalenka has had another phenomenal season on the tour, capturing four titles—including the fourth Grand Slam title of her career at the US Open—and reaching another four finals, including another two major finals at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.

Her consistency throughout the season was unmatched, too, reaching the quarterfinals or better at 13 of the 15 tournaments she played.

With all of that, and no matter how she does at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Sabalenka has secured the 2025 year-end WTA No. 1 ranking.

Having finished 2024 at No. 1 as well, she’s just the 13th woman in WTA rankings history to finish at the top spot in back-to-back years.

PLAYERS TO FINISH NO. 1 IN BACK-TO-BACK YEARS IN WTA RANKINGS HISTORY (since 1975):

  • Monica Seles [1991-1992]
  • Martina Hingis [1999-2000]
  • Lindsay Davenport [2004-2005]
  • Justine Henin [2006-2007]
  • Caroline Wozniacki [2010-2011]
  • Serena Williams [2013-2015]
  • Simona Halep [2017-2018]
  • Ashleigh Barty [2019-2021]
  • Iga Swiatek [2022-2023]
  • Aryna Sabalenka [2024-2025]
