Aryna Sabalenka is currently a dominant No. 1 on the WTA rankings, now a few thousand points ahead of her chief rival, world No. 2 Iga Swiatek—and there are a few sections of the season where she’s particularly dominant, like in Australia (where she’s 33-2 since the start of 2023) and at the hard-court Grand Slams (where she’s also 33-2 since the start of 2023).
And there’s another section of the season where she’s starting to build the same level of domination: tournaments in the United States.
By capturing her first Miami Open title on Saturday, which she capped with a 7-5, 6-2 championship victory over Jessica Pegula, Sabalenka has now won 23 of her last 24 matches on American soil, the only loss since last August coming to Mirra Andreeva in the Indian Wells final two weeks ago.
And she even won the first set in that match, 6-2.
Meanwhile, in that time, she’s picked up her third Grand Slam title at the US Open, as well as WTA 1000 trophies at Cincinnati and now Miami.
