Arizona State’s powerplay EXPLODED for five goals in a 5-2 win over Alaska Fairbanks to capture the 2025 Men’s Ice Breaker championship.
Coming into the game, the Sun Devils’ powerplay was just 2-for-17 to start the season and went 1-for-6 against Notre Dame on Friday night. But they figured it out tonight, scoring all five goals in nine tries to secure a championship win over Alaska Fairbanks.
Cruz Lucius shined in the third period for Arizona State, scoring a hat trick in just over five minutes of game time, giving ASU a cushion as the clock ran down.

Connor Hasley made 34 saves in the win for ASU, earning his first win as a Sun Devil. ASU led in shots, 40-36 in what was mostly a tightly-played defensive battle. But the wheels fell off late for Alaska, and the Sun Devil powerplay was too much to handle as they pulled away late in the third period.
Arizona State wins the Ice Breaker championship in its first tournament appearance, while Alaska comes away from the weekend with a top-10 upset over No. 8 Quinnipiac on Friday night. Alaska G Lassi Lehti was impressive all weekend, making 67 saves on 73 shots in two games for a .918 SV%.
