External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday during a gathering of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) delegation heads.
The meeting followed Jaishankar’s talks with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov, where the two reviewed bilateral and global issues ahead of Putin’s upcoming visit to India in early December for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit.

In New Delhi, Putin’s top aide Nikolai Patrushev met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss maritime cooperation and ongoing preparations for the summit. The Russian Embassy said both sides reaffirmed interest in deepening defence, maritime and strategic collaboration.
Jaishankar and Lavrov also reiterated their commitment to a multipolar world order, continued coordination in platforms such as the UN, SCO, BRICS and G20, and reviewed progress on the 25th anniversary of the India–Russia Strategic Partnership.
PM Modi and Putin last met at the Tianjin SCO Summit in September.
