After Voter Adhikar Yatra, Tejashwi Yadav lets loose with dance and reels in Patna

After the Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, concluded on Monday, RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who had accompanied him across Bihar with fiery speeches, let his hair down in Patna. The former deputy chief minister was seen grooving to Bollywood tracks with youngsters, riding along Marine Drive with his nephew visiting from Singapore, and even trying his hand at making reels.

Videos of Yadav dancing on the roadside at night were shared by his sister Rohini Acharya on X, quickly going viral. Posting one clip, Rohini wrote, “The heart is still a child, isn’t it… fun time @ Patna Marine Drive.”

Dressed in a yellow T-shirt and checked pants, Yadav was seen learning steps from local youths as policemen looked on. In one video, he mimicked Hrithik Roshan’s famous hook step; in another, he danced to the Bhojpuri song ‘Lalu bina chaalu ee Bihar na hoi’, a nod to his father and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Other clips showed him walking with youngsters lip-syncing movie dialogues, chanting “Tejashwi bhaiya zindabaad,” and even sharing tea with them and chatting with police officers.

In a post of his own on X, the 35-year-old leader wrote, “Amidst heat, rain and humidity, the 16-day Voter Rights Yatra concluded yesterday. At night, my nephew who came from Singapore said, ‘Let’s go for a drive.’ On the way, we met some young fellow artists on the road. They were singing songs, making reels. When they insisted, we too tried our hand at it. With ease, simplicity and accessibility, we will march in step with the expectations, aspirations, dreams and hopes of the youth, rising above caste and religion, resolving to build a new Bihar and bring about a change in power.”

The INDIA bloc yatra spanned 16 days and 25 districts. Its final leg covered a 1-km stretch from Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan to the Babasaheb Ambedkar statue at Dak Bungalow Square, ending with speeches by top opposition leaders. Virtually pitching himself as the bloc’s chief ministerial face, Tejashwi asked crowds if they preferred “the original CM”– himself — or the “duplicate CM,” Nitish Kumar of the JD(U), whom he accused of copying RJD’s schemes.

Rahul Gandhi reiterated his slogan, “Vote chor, gaddi chhor (Thief of votes, give up the chair).” He told the youth of Bihar, “This slogan has caught on… I want to caution you that vote theft would mean losing your rights, as well as reservation, employment and good education. The forces that killed Mahatma Gandhi are trying to kill the Constitution of Gandhi.”
