The Tripura higher education department recently suspended two assistant professors of two different colleges.
An assistant professor of a college in Dhalai district was suspended after a video went viral on social media, showing him and a girl student of the college ‘behaving inappropriately’ on college premises.
The assistant professor was suspended after the disciplinary committee of the college submitted a preliminary report that was forwarded to the principal of the college.
The assistant professor has reportedly accepted his mistake.
In a separate incident, an assistant professor of Ramthakur College in West Tripura district was suspended for his alleged involvement in forgery, malpractice, and violation of admission norms.
In a notification, the higher education department stated that some students who were not officially selected for admission were found having fee cards with forged signatures of college authorities.
“…it is also reflected in the preliminary information submitted by the Principal of Ramthakur College that Dr Abhijit Nath, Assistant Professor, on being asked to explain the matter, admitted in writing that he had taken 50 fee cards from the office and kept them at his home, which he was not authorised to do. He returned 28 fee cards on being asked to do so, but did not provide any explanation for the remaining fee cards. But as per the factual report submitted by the Principal of the College, as many as 120 fee cards were taken by Dr Nath from the office,” reads the notice.
