Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences following Monday’s deadly air crash in Dhaka, where a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into a school, killing at least 19 people, many of them students and injuring over 170.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Deeply shocked and saddened at the loss of lives, many of them young students, in a tragic air crash in Dhaka. Our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We pray for the swift recovery of those injured.”

The crash occurred in the Diabari area of the capital when an F-7 BGI aircraft piloted by Flight Lieutenant Mohammad Towkir Islam Sagar struck the Milestone School and College campus. The pilot also died in the incident.
The Chief Adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, Muhammad Yunus, called the crash an “irreparable loss” and said it was a moment of “profound pain for the nation.” He assured that the government would investigate the cause and provide all necessary support.
Rescue teams were at the scene throughout the day, with hospitals directed to prioritise treatment for the injured.
