With the England vs India encounter at Lord’s turning out to be a spicy affair with players from both teams getting caught in on-field confrontations and sometimes, funny exchanges. The England Cricket X account also chimed in with a banter of its own at the expense of Washington Sundar.

With Sundar coming in to bat ahead of Nitish Kumar Reddy, the Tamil Nadu allrounder could last just 4 balls, getting dismissed for a duck by Jofra Archer who pulled off an excellent catch to pull off the dismissal. The England Cricket X account quote tweeted a 2015 tweet by Archer where the pacer had posted “How long it takes to get to Washington ?” leading to England X answering “4 balls”.

Sundar, whose place in the playing XI was questioned ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham, had proved all the critics wrong and repaid the team management’s faith with his performance on Sunday when he registered a crucial four-wicket haul to help India skittle out England for 192 in the second innings.

Sundar pulled back the game in India’s favour after breaking the ominous partnership between England’s skipper Ben Stokes and their most experienced batter Joe Root. Sundar cleaned up Root before he snapped up Stokes and Jamie Smith. He then wrapped up England’s innings by removing the last man, Shoaib Bashir.

“We want so many things the way we expect it to be, but yes, we’ll take it any day. We’ll really come out positive tomorrow. We’ve got some solid batsmen in the dressing room. It’s exciting in every way, you know, winning a Test in Lord’s is going to be amazing. So, I think we’re sitting pretty,” he had said after the 4th Day’s play.

On Monday, England claimed four wickets to close on a famous win with India struggling on 112-8, still 80 runs behind the hosts at lunch on a tense final day of an enthralling third test at Lord’s.

Jofra Archer bowled Rishabh Pant, Ben Stokes trapped KL Rahul lbw and Archer brilliantly caught and bowled Sundar to leave India reeling at 84-7.

Ravindra Jadeja (17 not out) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (13) defended stubbornly, however, before Chris Woakes had the latter caught by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith just before the interval.
