Georgia Amoore, Kentucky

Kentucky's Georgia Amoore

Georgia Amoore led Kentucky in scoring and assists in wins over two Associated Press Top 25 opponents this week, taking down No. 22 Alabama, 65-56, at home Thursday, before knocking off No. 12 Oklahoma, 95-85, on the road Sunday.

In those contests, Amoore averaged 29.5 points per game, 4.5 three-point field goals per game, 55.3 percent shooting from the field, 50.0 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 8.5 assists per game.

Against Oklahoma she tied the school record and had a career-high for most points scored in a single game with 43, joining Rhyne Howard (2020) and Jennifer O’Neill (2013). Her previous season high was 27 points and her previous career-high was 39 points. She became just the fifth player in Division I this season to score as many as 43 points, and the second in the Southeastern Conference. She also became the first player in program history – and the only player in the league since at least 2002-03 – to have at least 43 points and eight assists in a single game.

Before that, she eclipsed 800 career assists in a win over Alabama. She remains the only active player in Division I – men or women – to have at least 2,000 career points and at least 800 career assists.

The Wildcat currently leads the nation in assists per game (7.5) through 21 games in 2024-25. In doing so, she has helped lead her team to a 19-2 overall record and an 8-1 mark in the SEC. She also has led them to a 4-1 mark against AP Top 25 opponents.

Amoore has scored in double digits in 20 games this season, while she has scored at least 20 points in 11 games.

Kentucky will return to action on Feb. 10 at Ole Miss.

Mikayla Blakes, Vanderbilt

Mikayla Blakes Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt freshman phenom Mikayla Blakes continued to add to her collegiate accolades, averaging 34.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.5 assists in a pair of games last week.

Blakes set the NCAA true freshman single-game scoring record last Thursday, scoring 53 points in a 99-86 win at Florida. Blakes’ 53 points not only set the NCAA true freshman scoring record, but she also broke the SEC women’s basketball single-game scoring record that stood for over 22 years.

Blakes’ 53 points are the most scored in a game by a first-year player at the NCAA Division I level, breaking JuJu Watkins’ NCAA true freshman single-game scoring record of 51 points, set by the Southern California standout last season.

On Feb. 2 Vanderbilt had its four-game winning streak come to an end, losing  76-61 at Ole Miss. Blakes battled foul trouble and finished with 16 points in the contest.

The No. 24 ranked Commodores, 18-5 overall and 5-4 in SEC play, next hit the road for a top-25 SEC matchup at No. 4 Texas on Feb. 6.

BRACKET PREDICTIONS: February’s first March Madness women’s projections for 2025

Hannah Hidalgo, Notre Dame

Hannah Hidalgo Notre Dame

Hannah Hidalgo posted two 30-point games as Notre Dame scored a pair of road Atlantic Coast Conference double-digit wins at Virginia Tech and Louisville to complete a 10-0 start in ACC play for the nation’s No. 3 team.

In Blacksburg on Jan. 30, Hidalgo had 30 points, five assists and three steals in a 77-61 win over Virginia Tech. Hidalgo connected on 10-of-16 shots from the floor and all seven free throws in the contest.

Against Louisville on Sunday, Notre Dame rolled 89-71 as Hidalgo had a season-high 34 points plus six rebounds and five assists. She went 8-8 from the line, giving her a perfect 15-15 on the week.

There were just three 30-point games in the ACC last week, and Hidalgo had two of them. She also was the only player in the country with a pair of 30-point games last week.

The sophomore now has nine games in her career with 30-plus points, second in Notre Dame history only to Arike Ogunbowale. Hidalgo also has five career games with 30 points and five assists, tied for the second most in the ACC in the last 25 years. Finally, Hidalgo and Jewell Loyd are the only Irish players with back-to-back 30-point games in the last 25 years. Hidalgo has done it twice (Georgia Tech and UConn last season).

Hidalgo continues to pace the ACC with 4.1 steals per game this season and sits second with 26.1 points per game. She’s been highly efficient from the floor as well with a 50.1 field goal percentage and a 42.5 percent success rate from beyond the arc, both of which are top-10 in the ACC.

Notre Dame, 19-2 overall, will return to play on Feb. 6 at home against Stanford.

Mia Jacobs, Fresno State

Mia Jacobs Fresno State

Fresno State junior forward Mia Jacobs led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with wins over Nevada (65-59) on the road and at home against San José State (99-85), recording back-to-back double-doubles this week, marking her 13th and 14th of the season.

Jacobs averaged 29.5 points and 13 rebounds, while also adding 2.5 assists and one assist per game. She shot 58.1 percent from the field (18-for-31) and 71.4 percent from three (10-for-14) in two games and is now fourth in the nation in double-doubles this season with14.

At Nevada on Jan. 29, Jacobs filled the stat sheet with 23 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. She followed that up on Saturday with a career-high 36 points at San Jose State, adding 11 rebounds and four steals.

Fresno State, 15-8 overall and 6-4 in the Mountain West Conference, will return to action on Feb. 5, hosting San Diego State.

Maddy Skorupksi, Oakland

Maddy Skorupski Oakland

Oakland junior guard Maddy Skorupski set a career-high with 38 points, shooting 12-of-19 from the field in a crucial 77-63 home win over Detroit Mercy on Feb. 1. The win propelled Oakland into sole possession of fourth place in the Horizon League standings.

Skorupski’s 38-point outburst is the highest single-game performance of any Horizon League women’s basketball player this season, and ties the highest for any conference performer, men or women. She also added five assists and five steals to her stat line, marking her 11th game with three-or-more steals and her tenth time with four-or-more assists.

Skorupksi’s 17.6 points per game ranks second in the Horizon League and her 3.1 steals per game is first in the conference. Her performance against the Titans marked her seventh performance with 20-plus points and three-or-more steals this season.

Oakland, 8-13 overall and 6-6 in league play, will next play at Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 6.
