PHOENIX, AZ – January 27, 2025 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) –  RM Sotheby’s launched the 2025 auction season with its 27th annual sale in Arizona. Held at the iconic Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, the event achieved an impressive 95% sell-through rate, totaling $31,634,160 in sales. Bidders from 19 countries participated, setting multiple auction records across a diverse selection of cars, from pre-war classics to modern supercars.

Highlights

The 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta ‘Tour de France’ by Scaglietti sold for $3,772,500, highlighting its significance as one of only 28 single-louver, covered-headlight examples. Delivered in a unique Oro Chiaro over Bordeaux leather combination, it boasts a rich history, including a 3rd-in-class finish at the 1960 1000 KM Buenos Aires and a win at the 1958 Aosta-Pila Hillclimb. Previously part of renowned collections like Pierre Bardinon’s Mas du Clos, it remains a highly coveted rally and concours car.

The 1931 Bentley 8-Litre Convertible Victoria by Murphy, a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and the only 8-Litre Bentley with American custom coachwork, achieved a record-breaking sale of $3,195,000. With a well-documented history by marque expert Dr. Clare Hay, this exceptional Bentley was formerly owned by noted connoisseur Don Weber. It features an impeccable concours restoration by Bentley specialists R.C. Moss and retains its original body, chassis, engine, gearbox, and all major components. Truly one of the ultimate “W.O.” Bentleys, this unique Full Classic stands as a testament to bespoke craftsmanship and historical significance.

The 1984 Audi Sport quattro, a rare Group B homologation special, sold for $758,500, surpassing its pre-sale estimate of $375,000–$475,000 and further proving the appeal of Group B cars. Known as “The F40 Killer,” it was ordered by Audi Club of North America founder Frank Beddor Jr. and raced extensively by Steve Beddor, setting records at the Virginia City Hill Climb. Retained by the Beddor family since new, it is a rare and significant piece of motorsport history.

The 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale achieved a world record price of $786,000, far exceeding its pre-sale estimate of $400,000–$475,000. Finished in a rare Blu Tour de France with NART livery stripes and Giallo Modena brake calipers, it features optional exposed carbon fiber elements. With just 5,106 miles and a tan interior with special-order blue trim, this like-new example stands out as one of the most collectible modern Ferraris.
