LONDON, ENGLAND – January 13, 2025 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – RM Sotheby’s is delighted to announce a final list of exceptional consignments coming to its two-day Paris sale on 4-5 February 2025. RM Sotheby’s is making a return to Les Salles du Carrousel in the Louvre Palace, in the heart of Paris’s ‘Golden Triangle’, for a third consecutive year. The following highlights are just some of the exceptional automobiles coming to the Paris sale this year, which includes the previously announced 1964 Ferrari 250 LM by Scaglietti.
One of the stars of the show is the 1970 Ferrari 512 M. For a sale already rich in Ferrari competition cars, the 512 M is another stunning Maranello masterpiece to be offered in Paris. Supplied new to Ecurie Francorchamps in May 1970, this was the last sports prototype to be raced by the Belgian team and is a two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans entrant, placing 5th overall in the 1970 edition. Representing the peak of early 1970s Ferrari sports prototype engineering, this was the only 512 that was supplied new by Ferrari in the evocative shade of Giallo yellow, and its period drivers include Derek Bell and Alain de Cadenet. A unique opportunity for any serious collector, this wonderful racing car is estimated to sell for between €9,000,000 – €12,000,000 EUR.
Fast forward a decade and another special Ferrari to compete at Le Mans is the 1981 Ferrari 512 BB/LM, which participated in both the 1981 and 1984 editions of the historic race. Wins include a GTX Class win at the Monza 1000 km and the 6 Hours of Pergusa in 1981, in addition to a further class win in the 1982 Mugello 1000 km. Offered with its Ferrari Classiche certification, it would be welcomed to all historic racing events, including the Le Mans Classic and the Monterey Motorsports Reunion (Estimate: €2,000,000 – €2,500,000 EUR).
Another sublime Ferrari on offer is the 1951 Ferrari 212/225 Export by Vignale.One of just 27 examples of the 212 Export constructed by Ferrari, this example has been subject to a concours-level restoration by Ferrari Classiche from 2020 to 2024, in addition to receiving its Classiche certification in July 2024. Fascinatingly, this car also boasts race history including the 12 Hours of Reims, 1000 Km of Paris, and the Liège-Rome-Liège Rally (Estimate: €2,500,000 – €3,500,000 EUR).
Moving into the modern era, the 2011 Koenigsegg Agera is an exceptional hypercar, and one of a mere seven produced. Boasting a remarkable bodywork of exposed, matt carbon fibre, the Agera was offered with astonishing performance, thanks to its twin-turbocharged, 5-litre V-8 producing 950 horsepower. Now offered with a recent service, this beautiful machine is estimated at €1,800,000 – €2,300,000 EUR).
An icon of its era is the 1958 BMW 507 Roadster Series II, arguably one of the most beautiful BMWs ever built. Constructed following pressure by New York importer Max Hoffman in response to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, the result was a stunning V8-powered continental cruiser. This example was originally delivered to Havana, Cuba, and is offered with its matching numbers chassis and engine, and is offered for the first time in 36 years (Estimate: €1,750,000 – €2,000,000 EUR). The 1974 Mercedes-Benz 600 ‘Six-Door’ Pullman Landaulet offered in Paris is an example of a model only ever built as a special order and which often came into the possession of the world’s most important people. This rare car was originally delivered new to Portuguese Guinea as an official state Landaulet limousine and is now offered with an extensive mechanical restoration carried out by 600 specialist Kienle Automobiltechnik in 2019 (Estimate: €1,300,000 – €1,600,000 EUR).
For connoisseurs of great prewar cars, the 1931 Talbot AV105 Works ‘GO51’ will be of huge interest. The first of the four famous ‘GO’ cars, this car was driven at the 1931 24 Hours of Le Mans and is one of the most effective and successful British sports racing cars of the 1930s. With known history from new, it is offered for the first time in over 20 years (Estimate: €950,000 – €1,250,000 EUR). The 1929 Bugatti Type 37 will need little introduction, with the example offered boasting a documented history and benefiting from a full inspection by renowned marque historian Pierre-Yves Laugier. This gorgeous Bugatti is offered with its matching-numbers engine and has known history from new in France (Estimate: €980,000 – €1,300,000 EUR).
More exceptional examples set to be offered in Paris include a 1989 Jaguar XJR-10. A winner of the 1990 Portland 300 Kilometres and 1991 2 Hours of West Palm Beach, this chassis was campaigned in 18 rounds of the IMSA GT Championship between 1989 and 1991. Built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, this highly eligible example for historic Group C and endurance racing series is offered with a running engine and is estimated to sell for between €800,000 – €1,200,000 EUR.
Also worthy of note is a rare version of the iconic Countach, a 1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 ‘Periscopio’ by Bertone, which is one of just 157 examples built, and is powered by a stonking 4-litre V-12 (Estimate: €750,000 – €900,000 EUR). Also coming to Paris will be a 2010 Ferrari 599 GTO, which was only the third model in Ferrari’s history to wear the fabled GTO moniker. This example is finished in Grigio Medio with Nero racing livery over Nera Alcantara upholstery, and is estimated to sell for €700,000 – €850,000 EUR.
