Scotland prop Pierre Schoeman has signed a new contract with Edinburgh until 2028.
The loose-head, 30, has made over a century of appearances since joining the capital club in 2018 and has cemented himself in Gregor Townsend’s Scotland side after making his debut in 2021.
He now has 37 caps for his adopted country, having qualified on residency grounds, and is widely expected to receive a call-up to the British & Irish Lions next summer.
Schoeman joins fellow Scotland international Duhan van der Merwe in signing a new deal at Edinburgh amid interest from abroad.
“I’m truly honoured to be staying for at least another three years,” South Africa-born Schoeman told club media.
“My wife Charissa and I have loved every minute of our time here in Scotland and this is home for us now.
“Our life is here – it was an easy decision to re-sign with a club that means so much to me. There were other clubs interested, but I have unfinished business here.
“I look around the changing room and there is so much talent. We’re a family here and I genuinely couldn’t be happier to have re-signed.”
Head coach Sean Everitt hailed the retention of “fan favourite” Schoeman, describing it as “brilliant news”.
He added: “He’s developed into a world-class prop and is a brilliant example for all our younger players because Pierre gives nothing less than 100% – he is fully committed to making himself and the others around him better every day.”
