A fire broke out in an AC coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district on Sunday morning,
No casualties have been reported in the blaze that broke out at 5.15 am in the B-1 coach of the train (12431).
Following the incident, all passengers of the affected coach were safely deboarded, and refreshments were served to them.
The Overhead Equipment (OHE) supply was immediately cut, and the affected B-1 coach was detached from the rake.
To facilitate the movement of the train ahead on the Luni Richha (LNR) and Vikramgarh Alot (VMA) route, an additional coach will be attached at the Kota station, the West Central Railway, Kota division told The Indian Express.
Railway employees and officers rushed to the spot and are currently engaged in fire-fighting operations. Senior officers from Kota have also departed for the site. The situation is completely under control, WCR said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Another train (12955) was held at Mahidpur Road (MEP) due to the fire. The section will be cleared shortly, according to railway officials.
