The MK Stalin-led DMK has slammed its INDIA bloc ally Congress, calling it “backstabbers”. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai said that his party did not endorse the support of Congress to Vijay’s TVK to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
The Congress made the decision to back TVK at a late-night Parliamentary Affairs Committee meeting. Soon after the meeting, Congress MP KC Venugopal said: “The INC is clear that the mandate in Tamil Nadu is for a secular government that is committed to protecting the Constitution in letter and spirit. The INC is determined not to have the BJP and its proxies run the government in Tamil Nadu in any manner.”
TVK President Thiru Vijay has requested the Indian National Congress for support to form a Government in Tamil Nadu. He has spoken about drawing inspiration from Perumthalaivar Kamaraj as well, in his political mission.

Posting a photo of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Vijay, Annadurai further said: “Some smartie from Congress has screwed up big time.”
Pointing out that the Congress had only 5 seats, Annadurai said the party had made a “complete fool of themselves”. “It will not get over the majority mark. Now, ADMK with 43 seats is willing to offer support to TVK. Whose support will TVK take,” he asked.
The Congress fought the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in alliance with the DMK.
DMK spokesperson T K S Elangovan also hit out at the Congress, saying that their were talks within the Congress of some people wanting to support Vijay “from the beginning”. “Congress is doing it in every state, and ultimately, they are losing in all of them. They were wiped off in Delhi and West Bengal. They have no chance in Maharashtra. They are doing something which will close their party.”

Cracks in AIADMK?
The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has also seemingly been hit in the aftermath of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election results. The party appears to be heading toward its sharpest internal split since the passing of J Jayalalithaa.
As per sources The Indian Express spoke to, serious differences surfacing within the party over whether it should back Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Vijay in forming a coalition government. Sources across political circles indicated that the situation is also being influenced by the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership’s push to block the Indian National Congress from becoming part of the government in Tamil Nadu.
Top AIADMK leaders said the BJP leadership in New Delhi is uneasy about the possibility of a Congress-supported TVK administration taking shape in Chennai, particularly in the backdrop of the Congress’s recent gains in neighbouring Kerala.

With TVK securing 108 seats and remaining short of the 118-seat majority threshold, coalition support has become essential. Political developments suggest the BJP is backing attempts to steer the AIADMK toward extending support to Vijay, rather than allowing Congress and Left parties to emerge as key supporters of the next government.
The situation escalated further on Tuesday night when senior AIADMK leader Leema Rose Martin publicly confirmed that discussions were taking place between TVK and AIADMK. The disclosure, whether inadvertent or otherwise, quickly drew attention because her son-in-law, Aadhav Arjuna, is considered one of Vijay’s close political aides and is believed to be directly involved in the talks on behalf of TVK. Her son is also an MLA from Puducherry and is part of the NDA.
News agency PTI, meanwhile, reported that Vijay will take oath on May 6.
