Key contests
Maharashtra is witnessing many interesting matchups. One is the Thackeray brothers joining hands to put up a front against the rampaging Bharatiya Janata Party’s alliance, which includes Deputy CM Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Elsewhere in Pune, the Pawar family has reunited to stave off any threat in their Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad bastion. How was the voting turnout
The State Election Commissioner said that the total voting turnout was set to be nearly 46-50 per cent, as voting came to a close. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), whose annual budget is over Rs 74, 400 crore, had 1,700 candidates contesting on 227 seats. These elections were incidentally the first held after nine years, after a four-year delay.
