Going into the season, both teams have appointed a new captain on their side. Giants went with Ashleigh Gardner as their captain, and in one of the remarkable moves, Warriorz went with Meg Lanning. Lanning has led the Captials for three consecutive seasons in the initial three seasons of the WPL.
Apart from the leaders, the Giants have given their top order a boost by adding Sophie Devine, Yastika Bhatia and Danni Wyatt-Hodge. Warriorz, meanwhile, seem to have achieved a good balance in their batting line-up with Kiran Navgire, with Harleen Deol and the uncapped Shweta Sehrawat – their only retention ahead of the season – the other top-order options.
