Developed by BEML using ICF (Integral Coach Factory, Chennai) technology, this new train has been designed to operate at a speed of up to 180 kmph. However, the speed of a train varies depending on various factors including geometry of the track, stoppages enroute, maintenance work in the section etc. Thus, this new train i.e. Howrah-Guwahati-Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper will run at a speed of up to 130 kmph.
“Designed for high-speed performance, the train is capable of attaining a maximum speed of 180 kmph; however, for this service it will operate at a speed of up to 130 kmph, keeping safety considerations paramount,” the railways said.
