JDU supremo Nitish Kumar is set to take oath as the CM for the record 10th time on November 20 even as intense lobbying is underway between the two main NDA constituents, BJP and JDU, to finalise allocation of Cabinet berths, and build a consensus over the post of Assembly Speaker.
JDU is learnt to have suggested eight-time Alamnagar MLA and former minister Narendra Narayan Yadav for the Speaker’s post, while BJP is keen on former minister Prem Kumar elevation to the coveted position. In the outgoing Assembly, BJP veteran Nand Kishore Yadav was the Speaker.
Two senior JDU leaders, Union minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, and its national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha on Tuesday held meetings with top BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, to resolve the matter.
BJP would hold its legislature party meeting Wednesday in which Samrat Choudhary is most likely to retain his position of party’s leader in
the House as well as that of deputy CM.
BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya as the central observer for the election of its legislature party leader in Bihar. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, and former Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti have been appointed central co-observers.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar on Tuesday inspected the venue for swearing-in ceremony at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on November 20. He will resign as the CM on Wednesday and stake claim to form next government, it is learnt.
