After his explosive 42-ball 144 set the stage on fire, Vaibhav Suryanshi was dismissed for 45 off 28 deliveries, as India A took on Pakistan A in the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 at Doha’s West End Park International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
True to his aggressive style, the 14-year-old prodigy from Bihar began his innings with a boundary off Ubaid Shah at deep backward point. Vaibhav struck five fours and three sixes before holing out to Mohammad Faiq off the bowling of Sufiyan Muqeem in the 10th over.
His dismissal triggered a collapse in India A’s middle order. From a relatively comfortable 91/2, the team cracked under pressure from the Pakistan Shaheens, slumping to 104/6 in the 15th over.
Right-arm pacer Shahid Aziz picked three wickets while tweakers Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood accounted for two wickets each as India A were bundled out for just 136 runs in 19 overs.
Vaibhav, lone silver lining
This knock came just days after Vaibhav smashed an extraordinary 32-ball century against the UAE in India A’s opening game on Friday. In that innings, a staggering 93.05% of his runs (134 of 144) came from boundaries, a rate of scoring via fours and sixes that has only been surpassed by three other batters in a T20 match. In the process, the teenager also became the only player to score two T20 centuries in 35 balls or fewer, having previously scored a 35-ball hundred for the Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

It’s been a stunning year for Vaibhav as the teenager from Bihar made his Indian Premier League debut, hit the second-fastest century in the league, became the youngest centurion, impressed in Australia, England away tours, was fast-tracked to the India A side. He had made history when he scored the fastest ever Youth ODI century, off just 52 balls, for India U19 against England U19 in Worcester. Vaibhav had also recently broken the all-time record for the most career sixes in Youth ODI cricket during the second India U-19 vs Australia U-19 50-over match at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane in September, surpassing compatriot Unmukt Chand’s previous record by hitting his 39th Youth ODI six.
