Jones had a prolific international career with Wales, spanning 13 years. In that time, he played a prominent role in 2005 as they won their first Grand Slam for 27 years.
He was then named captain a year later, only for his role to last just eight games, in which he led the team to only one victory.
He featured in four games as Wales won another Grand Slam, in 2008, and his final international appearances came in the 2011 World Cup as Wales fell agonisingly short of reaching the final. He finished with a total of 970 points for them and the Lions – eighth on the all-time list of international points-scorers.
Since retiring from playing in 2013, he has specialised as an attack coach, working at London Wasps, Scarlets, Wales under Wayne Pivac and most recently with Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby.
Jones will take up his new post at the beginning of December and he is looking forward to what awaits him at the rebranded Prem club.
