The United States will battle Great Britain in Shenzhen, China for a spot in the Billie Jean King Cup final.

The Americans are into the semifinals of the international team competition for the first time since 2021, and today they’ll try to reach the final for the first time since 2018. And it’s a packed squad, led by Jessica Pegula, who’s fresh off a run to the semifinals of the US Open—where she was the only player to take a set off of eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka. Joining her on the team are Emma Navarro, Taylor Townsend, McCartney Kessler and Hailey Baptiste.

The Brits, led by Katie Boulter, are into the semifinals for the third time in the last four years—but they haven’t made the final since all the way back in 1981.

The two countries have played each other at Billie Jean King Cup 10 times before, with the Americans leading the head-to-head series, 9-1. But it’s been a while—this is their first meeting at the event in 33 years.

It’s Quarterfinals Day (and Semifinals Day) in Seoul.

All four quarterfinals were on the Friday schedule in the South Korean capital, but rain washed out the entire day of play. So now it’s going to be a packed Saturday schedule with all four quarterfinals and both semifinals.

The marquee quarterfinal match features Iga Swiatek and Barbora Krejcikova in a clash between the current No. 2 and a former No. 2, as well as two multiple Grand Slam champions—and it’s ben a tricky match-up for Swiatek, as Krejcikova has won two of their last three meetings (though Swiatek won their last meeting, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2, at the WTA Finals last year). The winner of that one will play the winner of the match between Clara Tauson and Maya Joint.

The other two quarterfinals feature Ekaterina Alexandrova against Ella Seidel and Katerina Siniakova against Suzan Lamens. The winners of those two matches will play each other in the semifinals later in the day.

Play begins at the WTA 500 event at noon local time.
