Iga Swiatek and Barbora Krejcikova will collide in the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 event in Seoul.

It’s Quarterfinals Day in the South Korean capital, and two of the most accomplished active women’s players—a former No. 1 and a former No. 2, and both multiple Grand Slam champions—face off for a spot in the semifinals. Krejcikova, who famously won a match from eight match points down at the US Open a few weeks ago, against Taylor Townsend, just saved three match points to beat Emma Raducanu in the second round here, and she’s given Swiatek all kinds of trouble in the past, winning two of their last three meetings. Swiatek snuck out their last meeting, though, a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory in the round robin stage of the WTA Finals last fall.

Also in action in Seoul today are two hard-hitting women knocking on the door of the Top 10—Ekaterina Alexandrova and Clara Tauson, currently ranked just outside the elite at No. 11 and No. 12.

Italy and Ukraine will battle it out for a spot in the Billie Jean King Cup final.

The first of two semifinal ties at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen, China takes the court today, as the Italians take on the Ukrainians. The players representing each team will be announced an hour in advance.

Leading the two teams are Jasmine Paolini and Elina Svitolina, and if they’re chosen play each other, they’ve had an interesting history—they’ve met twice before, both times this year and both times at Grand Slams, and both times it was Svitolina who battled back from a set down to pull off the upset, defeating the Italian in the third round of the Australian Open, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, and in the fourth round of Roland Garros, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1.

The nations’ No. 2s—former Top 20 player Marta Kostyuk and former Top 30 player Elisabetta Cocciaretto—could also put on a show, and if it comes down to it, a doubles showdown between the Kichenok sisters and reigning Roland Garros champions Paolini and Sara Errani could be on the card too.
