Leicester Tigers defence coach Mike Forshaw has left his role for personal reasons, just days before the start of the new season.
Forshaw, a former Great Britain rugby league international, joined Leicester in July as part of new head coach Geoff Parling’s coaching team.
He moved to Welford Road following three seasons with the Welsh national team, having previously worked with Sale Sharks and Connacht Rugby.
“I really enjoyed the time at the club, although it was short, and it’s a shame that I can’t give the commitment that is needed to the role at this time,” he told the club website.
“I want to wish everyone all the best for this season and the future. They are a great group of players, a great group of coaches, and I wish them all the best.”
Anthony Allen, who rejoined the Tigers on the same day as Forshaw, will take responsibility for defence, supported by Leicester’s kicking coach Alex Davies.
“It’s sad to lose someone of Mike’s experience as he’s been a valuable member of the coaching team,” said Parling.
“On behalf of everybody at Leicester Tigers, I want to thank Mike for his work throughout the pre-season and wish him and his family well.”
Leicester, who reached the Premiership final in June, begin the new campaign on Friday with a trip to Harlequins in the Premiership Rugby Cup before opening their league programme at Bristol on 28 September.
