Katra to Sangaldan train: Indian Railways (IR) has announced a pair of special local train services between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Sangaldan in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K). These trains are aimed at assisting stranded passengers after incessant rains and flash floods in Reasi and Ramban districts damaged road connectivity. The train operations in the Union Territory (UT) falls under the administrative jurisdiction of Northern Railway (NR) zone.

In a statement, the zonal railway said: “To aid the stranded passengers owing to incessant rains and flash floods of district Reasi and Ramban and roads getting damaged, Northern Railway has come to respite by planning a pair of local passenger train service connecting SVDK Katra stn to Sangaldan station.”
“The service shall provide immediate relief to the stranded passengers and will help restore the critical connectivity and will surely serve as a lifeline till road connectivity is restored,” it added.

The Katra–Sangaldan Flood Special train will operate from September 8 to September 12, 2025, for a period of five days. It will run as an unreserved service, the train has been introduced on a temporary basis.

The train number 04685/04686 Katra-Sangaldan-Katra Flood Special will run via Reasi, Bakkal, Dugga and Sawalkote stations.

Train number 04685 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 08:40 hrs and reach Sangaldan at 10:00 hrs. On the return journey, train number 04686 will leave Sangaldan at 14:15 hrs and arrive back at SVDK at 15:45 hrs.

On Saturday, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah directed the formation of special teams to assess damages in flood-hit Anantnag and Kulgam districts and to prepare comprehensive proposals for seeking compensation for the affected people from the Centre.
